I’m happy to share another one of our graduation projects with you. This time we have Laura from Italy, she was a volunteer here with us for a year and is now working as our Orangery Tea Room Supervisor.

  • Which catalyst stream were you a part?

In Ashburnham Place you can decide between tree different catalyst streams; Theology, Creative and Adventure. I decided to be in Creative stream. In Italy I worked as a make-up artist and I am a very creative person, so this was the best stream for me.

  • What did you learn from your experience on Catalyst?

During my period in the creative stream I learnt how to improve my creativity not just in what I believe, but also being creative in my everyday life. Most importantly, is that thanks to my catalyst training I improved my relationship with God. I learnt how we can worship and adore God in             so many different ways.

  • What was your final graduation piece about?

For my final graduation project, I decided to make a video explaining how to do the perfect make-up. I use this art as my creativity because it was my work in Italy, but it is funny how God changes the forever plan.

The idea at the beginning was just to show different types of make-up on different girls, and of course I was thinking how to share this video with a biblical message. All the verses of the bible that I read were talking about beauty in a different way to how I was thinking about it. As I prayed, I realised that God was telling me to change how the people could receive or interpret my video. so the video is in reverse.

1 Peter 3:3-4 “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewellery or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

  • What are you doing now?

When I was following the catalyst stream, I was a volunteer, but now I’m working in the Orangery tea room in Ashburnham Place as a supervisor. I’m really thankful for this place.

  • Any advice or message for future Catalyst members?

Yes, try to enjoy every moment here in Ashburnham Place especially in your Catalyst training stream. You have the possibility to learn more about God, of course reading His word, but also just playing, dancing or walking in the forest.

Thank you Laura for sharing your heart with us.
